About Mathematics at IITGN

The chief focus of the discipline lies in creating a highly motivated centre for Mathematics teaching and research, compatible with some of the best institutions in the world. The discipline of Mathematics in IIT Gandhinagar has a strong group of motivated faculty members committed to active research and teaching. Currently, the branches of Mathematics that are represented include Algebraic Geometry, Analytic Number theory, Combinatorics, Control theory,  Commutative Algebra, Differential Equations, Graph Theory, Group Theory, Nonlinear Analysis and Optimization, Probability theory, Stochastic Processes. In addition to the full-time faculty members, the institute hosts eminent Mathematicians from within and outside the country as visiting faculty. Faculty members take active interest in supervising M.Sc. and Ph.D. students for their thesis work. Apart from their professional commitments within the institute, the faculty members contribute to the wholesome development of the subject by engaging in outreach activities, review and refereeing activities for journals, as well as by participating in various professional bodies and selection committees.
